The GCash debit cards can be used to pay. There are other ways to pay if you wish, so this isn’t mandatory.

Using GCash in Online Shopping Sites

As these are the mainstream e-commerce sites at present, I will focus on Lazada, Shopee, Carousell, and Zalora.

Lazada

Online marketplaces are currently dominated by Lazada. Due to its backing by Alipay, this has a close affinity to GCash, which is also partly owned by Alipay. GCash recently added a Lazada mini-app in GLife, within the app itself.

Additionally, we can order groceries (LazMart) and items from department stores (LazMall) in addition to the normal products. GCash is one of the payment methods Lazada supports since the company is partially owned by Alipay. It is also possible to link your GCash debit card if you desire.

GCash is the only payment method available when purchasing from the Lazada microsite within GCash.

Shopee

It is not far behind Alipay when it comes to Shopee. Besides Shopee Mall, there is also Shopee Mart for grocery items and Shopee Mall for department store items. As a result of its partnership with Dragonpay, Shopee offers more payment options, including GCash. You should keep in mind, however, that Dragonpay usually charges a transaction fee.

GCash debit cards can also be used for payment. In addition to using GCash to load your ShopeePay, you will also be able to receive freebies.

Carousell

As you may know, Carousell was formerly known as OLX.ph (which acquired the Sulit.com.ph site). The site mainly serves as a marketplace for people wanting to sell their stuff, generally used items. Payment methods vary depending on the seller – some accept GCash and bank transfers; others prefer COD (cash on delivery).

Coins can also be purchased using GCash, which can be used to purchase bumps, spotlights, and listing fees. These are tools for enhancing the visibility of your listings on the main page of the app. Linking your Google account to GCash is the first step.

Zalora

With goods from known brands, Zalora is the most popular online store for fashion items. As well as their forward-looking delivery and customer support, returns are made easier – even a bag is included if you are not satisfied with the sizing.

As the app didn’t allow me to take screenshots, I wasn’t able to do so. I tried checking the desktop site itself, but GCash was not available as a payment method. Debit cards from GCash can still be used. You can also pay with PayPal and Google Pay if you’ve linked your GCash debit cards.

BeautyMNL

Filipino women are well-served by BeautyMNL, a well-known e-commerce site for beauty and wellness products. The store has a wide variety of authentic cosmetic brands, including Korean brands.

There are a variety of payment options available, including credit/debit cards, Paypal, bank deposits, CODs, and GCash (via Paymongo).
