Details Itinerary

Day 1: Pokhara to Kande to Deurali

The Pokhara-Baglung highway will be our route until we get to Kande, a tiny hamlet settlement. The journey begins in Kande a small valley that is an hour away from Pokhara. This marks the official beginning of the Mardi Himal trekking journey. The journey from Kande isn’t very difficult since you will be traveling through the lowlands at the initial phase of the trek.

The route takes you through lush hills and vibrant rhododendron forests. Especially in springtime, these dense forest boasts vibrant and charming natural tapestries with rich ecosystems. After hiking for about 4 or 5  hours from Kande, mostly through the trees and upwards, we arrive at the Deurali mountain pass, which divides the Mardi Mt. Machapucchre from the Annapurna south range. Pitam Deurali with its homes built with traditional Nepalese architecture and terraced farms, depicts the typical Nepalese rural village lifestyle. Keep trekking and passing through various settlements and taking in the breathtaking vistas of the far snow-capped peaks and rest when you reach your pre-decided destination for rest and spend overnight.

Day 2: Deurali to forest camp to low camp

After a well-rested night the next day will start from deurali as you will go through forests of oak and rhododendron on your way to the forest camp. The vegetation around the route is quite vibrant. You will be in the presence of various floras and faunas while you are moving through these terrains. If you are lucky you might also be able to view the rare endangered species of animals along your journey. 

After passing through these terrains, we will arrive at the forest camp and finally ascend even further to the low camp. The trip from Forest Camp, Low Camp, to the Mardi Himal base camp boasts a difficult route. As you ascend the surroundings will be even more desolate, and semi-arid in comparison to its lower counterparts. But despite the numerous difficult climbs throughout this route, the amazing views of the Himalayas make the effort worthwhile.

Day 3: low camp to Badal Danda to high camp

From the low camp, you will trek over the Mardi Himal ridge with breathtaking views of Mt. Machapucchre and the Mardi Himal. This trail has stairs, therefore you’ll ascend them to reach Badal Danda. We resume our journey from Badal Danda to the High Camp after a short break for rest. As you embark on your journey from the Badal Dada you will start to feel the effects of altitude as you get closer to High Camp. Expect to go through several steep inclines during your journey. After ascending for quite a while we reach High Camp at last. 

After a grueling day spend the night at the elevated camp. Rest and save your energy for the next day’s trek

Day 4: High camp to Mardi Himal base camp and back to high camp

The next day starts with a journey from the high camp. The Mardi base camp trek is not much away now. High camp is the last stop before you reach your ultimate destination of the Mardi Himal trek . Trek 4 or 5 hours to reach the Mardi Himal trek from high camp. It is advisable to make the journey at dawn to witness the stunning sunrise over Mardi Himal and Mount Machapucchre and head towards the Mardi Himal Base Camp. Be ready for multiple narrow ridges. You must follow small trails along the mountain’s craggy ridges as you make your way through the trail’s steep and occasionally slick terrain. 

You will be welcomed to a magnificent atmosphere unmatched by anything else when you arrive at the base camp. The surrounding environment changes to a desolate, semi-arid state. Despite the numerous difficult climbs throughout this route, the amazing views of the Himalayas make the effort worthwhile. Beautiful views of the Mardi Himal, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Mount Machapucchre will be in your presence. We will walk back to High Camp for lunch after arriving at Mardi Himal Base Camp. From there we are going to Badal Danda after lunch at High Camp. Accommodation at Badal Danda is where we spend the last night of our trip.

Day 5: High camp to siding to Pokhara

The following day is Day 5 and is the last day of our quick trek up Mardi Himal. We’re going to follow the same route we followed on the way up. Descending through the same route will be quite simple. But from Badal Danda you will head in the direction of Sidhing, leading through the dense forest in the shadow of the mt macchapuchre. The route gets fairly slick as the fall gets steeper and more difficult.

Hence one must be careful while traveling through this route to avoid any accidents and mishaps. After trekking for almost five hours, you eventually reached Sidhing, where you got into a vehicle to return to Pokhara. You will spend the night at a hotel of your own in Pokhara from where you will catch a flight to your respective destinations.
